After a Ph.D. from M.I.T. and postdoctoral studies at IBM, NASA and the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule-Zürich, Pete is not only a nerd but he learned certain invaluable things like how to pronounce Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule-Zürich. After a brief stint in industry he is now an Associate Professor in the School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Here, he earned the nickname "Dr. Ludicrous" from his students over some unrealistic expectations on a statistics test.

After a protracted negotiation, his wife Jennifer agreed to allow him to pursue stand-up comedy as part of his midlife crisis. If you want to feel better about your messed up life come see him perform at the NERM2008 comedy night.

Pete has taken his brand of chemistry-comedy on the road to events around the country - take a look at his website for a taste. He also co-hosts Inside the Black Box, a weekly program on science and technology every Sun. at noon on WREK Atlanta 91.1FM and on the web at www.wrek.org. "Science, only funnier," is the motto of Pete and his co-host, fellow Georgia Tech Professor and comedian, Bill hunt as they add a little humor to discussions of science and technology relevant to our everyday lives.

Come along to the NERM2008 comedy night for a taste of Vermont humour!

Rusty DeWees grew up in Stowe, Vermont. He has worked as a paper boy, gas jockey, landscaper, logger, concrete worker, school bus driver, basketball coach, and musician. He spent four years racing stock cars and, for a half-dozen years, he was assistant to the late William J. Doyle of the Doyle New York auction house. He works in radio and TV, and has appeared in more than twenty-five motion pictures. He created and self-produces a one-man comedy show, The Logger, which tours New England and has spawned DVDs, CDs, calendars and books.
